GCRMN (Global Coral Reef
Monitoring Network) Regional Database
This on-going project is concerned with the devlopment of a coral
reef database for the GCRMN South Asia. The aim of this database
is to developpe a tool for policy maker to access scientific information,
to assist with management, conservation, and sustainable use of
coral reefs, Archive and collate biophysical and socio-economic
data, Forecast natural and anthropogenic trends and support eduction
and awareness building relating to coral reefs.

This project done for the Maldivian Air Taxi consisted in writing
a software to facilitate the operations while handling the flights
as well as keeping track and storing in a database all the informations
concerning the flights.
Environmental monitoring in Velavaru
The environmental monitorings of newly developed resort islands
is compulsory in the maldivian regulations. They serve the purpose
of establishing the environmental constraints imposed by the development
on the island by gathering data on coral health, beach profiles,
groundwater resources and checking the practices used for garbage
disposal, sewage treatment and energy consumption.
Hudhufushi
environnemental concept for resort developement
The environmental concept for the bid of Hudhufushi island was
done during June-August 2000 for Turquoise Pte. Ltd and Athama
in collaboration with Design 2000 Pte. Ltd. They were focussed
on issues to minimize adverse effects of developing a tourist
resort on the island as well as providing information on environmentally
conscious ways of implementing the different utilities such as
energy generation and waste disposal. The Turquoise Pte. Ltd.
bid had the reputation of the best concept and both bids were
short listed.

Life of Maldives
This project done for Atoll Editions consisted in the translation
into french of the most compulsory identification book of the
underwater Maldivian invertebrate fauna by Australian leading
naturalist Neville Coleman.
Tari
Village beach replenishment
program
Thari Village The environmental statement for the beach replenishment
project at Thari Village was carried out in June 2000 for Treasure
Island Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. This project was done in collaboration
with Riyan Design Pte. Ltd. The objectives of the project was
to identify the environmental constraints and minimize impacts
from deepening an entrance channel and providing a beach and swimming
area for the tourists, which was absent at the time. It is pending
approval at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Housing and Environment.
